Oregon Psychoanalytic Center - UX Research & Design
Business goals for the site

OPC wants to modernize people's perception of psychoanalytics today.. but their website is stuck in the past. When they approached us they had a few goals in mind that would help them achieve this.
  • As an education center, they rely on enrollment in their programs to generate revenue and this is something they want to be prominent on the website
  • They are also  growing diversity in the Psychoanalytic community through an internal task force and have some community outreach programs to showcase as well.
  • Finally, the website acts as a hub for discovering psychoanalytics and connecting with therapists.
Our User-Centered strategy
  • Empathize with our client and their users.
  • Define the problems they are having.
  • Ideate by looking at the data and how we can create solutions.
  • Prototype by building actual designs that we can test on our users.
  • Test and discover what designs work and places for improvement.
Who are we designing for?
We interviewed 3 types of users. The OPC board members, Clinical Therapists who might potentially partake in the education programs at OPC, and individuals who may want to discover psychoanalysis and find a therapist. Three Personas were created in order to keep our designs relevant to their needs and goals with problem statements defined for each person.

Recognizing pain-points in our users Journey
Our users have specific tasks and we wanted to understand and visualize how they might experience joy or frustration in the course of completing these tasks. Through this we discovered new insights about how they might search for a therapist, as well as engage with the OPC community.
Re-Structuring in order to guide our users
We found that the more learned about our users, the more we needed to focus on a simple and intuitive way to navigate. We needed to simplify the site without removing important information so our solution was to create pages with small chunks of easily digested information with intuitive navigation.

At this point we also did competitive and comparative analysis to further understand trends in similar websites.
Creating Designs for users and deliverables for our client
We created some prototypes and pitched our personas to our client to their delight. From there we were thrilled to produce some high-fidelity mockups which you can experience below. We also polished findings from our research as well as design files in order to deliver to our client high quality and comprehensive information to help them when moving into development.
